Estancia Rio Quillen Lodge

On the edge of the steppe, in the unspoiled region of Lanin National Park is located Estancia Rio Quillen.
The estancia is owned by the Lagos-Marmol family and consists of almost 46,000 acres. The Quillen valley of spring creeks, small rivers and lakes add to the beauty of this area and one feels very isolated from the rest of the world in this impressive setting.

The Lodge

The hosteria overlooks a remote alpine valley and River Quillén, and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and the lush forests of the Cordillera. Its cozy country style, was built with local timber and strategically placed on a hillside, offer spectacular sunsets by the fireplace.

There are accommodation for six guests in bedrooms with private baths.
All bedrooms, most of which overlook the valley, are comfortable and nicely decorated.

The River

Quillen river flows nearly 10 miles of the through the property, which resembles the wellknow Rio Malleo in appearance. The river offers the opportunity to fish different types of water including numerous pools, riffles with drop-offs and pocket water for scrappy rainbows and brown trout.
Its crystal clear waters, where catch and release is mandatory, are exclusively for lodge guests. Only small groups of two to eight fishermen are allowed. The Malalco stream, an amazing spring creek and tributary of River Quillén, provide fine fishing for early season but is not always open because of conservation measures, which makes it every fisherman's dream.

The Fishing

The Quillen river is home to good population of brown trout and voracious rainbow trout, that are actively feeding and rising through most of the season.
During January the Quillen offers wonderful hatches of caddis, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonflies. Riffles, weed flats, and deep pools provide a variety of fishable water for the angler.

Although 8 pounders have been caught by the more expert ones, fish of 2 to 4 pounds are common in Quillén's runs, riffles, and pools.
Surrounded by stunning scenary and almost untouched waters, the Malalco stream offers one of the best sight fishing in the area. This is a wonderful option for those lovers of good fishing and hiking.
